What are the requirements for food paper packaging?

1. Strength requirements:


Since the food can reach consumers only after the packaging is completed through the circulation processes such as stacking, transportation and storage, it is required that the food packaging has the strength and will not be damaged in the circulation process.


2. Permeability requirements:


The barrier requirements of food packaging are determined by the characteristics of food itself, and different foods have different requirements for its packaging barrier characteristics. On the one hand, all kinds of dust, light, gas and moisture in the external environment cannot enter the food in the package. On the other hand, the moisture, oil and aromatic components contained in the food do not penetrate outward, so as to achieve the purpose of packaging food without deterioration. Other foods require packaging materials to be selective in blocking gas. For example, fruit and vegetable fresh-keeping packaging can selectively pass through O2 and CO2 by controlling the pore size of the materials, so as to control the respiratory intensity of packaged foods and achieve the purpose of fruit and vegetable fresh-keeping.


3. Hygiene:


While the food packaging materials have the necessary impermeability, the packaging materials themselves have no and volatile substances, that is, the packaging materials themselves are required to have stable tissue components. In addition, during the implementation of the packaging process, substances and chemical components that chemically react with food components will not be produced. In the process of storage and transfer, there will be no chemical changes due to the changes of climate and normal environmental factors.


4. Temperature resistance requirements:


Most foods are subject to heat treatment in the process of food processing. Some are packaged and subjected to high-temperature treatment, such as canned foods and small cooking foods, some are hot filled, such as many hot filled drinks, and many foods have a long shelf life. If they reach or exceed one year, it is inevitable that this kind of normal temperature preserved food will go through hot summer and be continuously above 300C, All these require food packaging to have high temperature resistance. With the different food and processing technology, the requirements for temperature resistance are also different.


5. Light shielding requirements:


Light is very unfavorable to the maintenance of food quality and nutrition. In particular, ultraviolet radiation will oxidize the oil in food, lead to rancidity, oxidize the natural pigment in food and change the color of food, which will promote the loss of B and C in food. In addition, light will also cause physical and chemical changes such as amino acid decomposition and sugar melting, which are not conducive to the maintenance of food quality. Therefore, for good food packaging, light shielding is also very important.


6. Safety requirements:


As food is a daily consumer goods, it needs to go through the circulation link to reach consumers, which requires that food packaging should be suitable for placement, handling, display and convenient purchase, without edges and corners or burrs that hurt people, and special portable devices should be provided as far as possible to facilitate purchase. It should also be considered that when opening the package, even if it is not operated correctly, it will not cause harm to consumers.


7. Promotional requirements:


Promotion is one of the important functions of food packaging. Promotional requirements food packaging materials should have the characteristics of easy printing, easy modeling, easy coloring, light weight and so on. In this regard, plastics undoubtedly have unique advantages.


8. Convenience requirements:


Convenient packaging is often an important reason for consumers to choose a certain food.
